Basic construction procedure:

The battery gets hooked to the USB charging board. The board deals with charging and discharging the battery and steps up the voltage from 3.7 to 5 volts. It would be nice if the charge board didn’t step up the voltage because the welding helmet wants 3.5V but it does, so the voltage needs to be brought back down. To do this we use the step down regulator, it brings the voltage from 5V down to 3.3V a little lower than what is needed but it works. 3.3V is used instead of 3.5V because there are tons of things in the electronics world that need 3.3V so regulators are cheap and easy to find.

Omnium Gatherum, a collection of miscellaneous people or things.

I worked in a shop that had a wonderful old poster titled “The Chester River Machine Tool Company’s Omnium Gatherum”. It had tons of useful information, as well as entertaining sayings. I wanted a copy but couldn’t find anything so I made my own.

I am sharing digital copies with the world, I may sell paper copies in the future. It’s formatted to be printed on a 2’x3′ page so parts of will be very small if it’s printed on normal 8.5×11 paper. I had a few extra 18″x24″ posters printed so if you want a copy send me an email.

It obviously comes with no guarantee of accuracy, if you find an error let me know and I will correct it. Several errors have been corrected since I first published this the easiest way to check is to see if the listing for a ‘O’ sized drill is in the right spot.

I built some wooden skateboard wheels with the hope that Braille skateboarding would test them in their you make it we skate it series.  They didn’t get back to me about testing them but I still have the wheels so if anyone else wants to try them let me know.

diyVT.org is hosting the website for the 5th Annual Kornguth Soapbox Derby.  It has been a great event the past 4 years and this year should be no exception.  It will be head August 26th at the exit one industrial park.

This looks like it would be a lot of fun for both kids and adults.
